• Ray Frenden, Illustrator Extraordinaire

In the video below, Ray Frenden captures his technique and shows us all how illustration is done today.

Take notes kiddies, Ray is constantly creating. When he's not illustrating digitally he's doing it the old-fashioned way, with quills he crafts by hand from the feathers of chickens he raises. (it's true, check the blog)

  • Twitterview: Local artist Tiphanie Brooke aka "antigirl"

    / Comments (0)

Tiphanie Brooke aka antigirl in her own words:

“i like to fuck things up & rip images apart. into type/design, kentucky bourbon, & independent hip-hop. i do whatever.”

She’s both raw and sophisticated, talented, real and kind enough to set aside some time and give The Phoenix Egotist it’s first Twitterview, a brief 10 question DM conversation that peeks into the interests and opinions of a Phoenix creative.

TPE: What’s your take on the current state of Phoenix, it’s progression, culture or lack there of?

Tiphanie: Lack there of for sure. for this, I am grateful because (especially when I was younger) there wasn’t much to see or do here so I spent my whole teenager life online looking at design, ad campaigns, and art, from everywhere else in the world.

    / Comments (1)

"Remember, Remember the 15th of November."

The Twitterverse was alive last night with cries of an internet outage in multiple states due to a DNS problem at COX Communications. Here are a few of the funnier tweets from the midst of the disaster:

@KillerTofuTina: #Cox just went down and no Viagra in sight

@anth2012: This is the first sign of the end of times #cox #dns #2012

@BellNickk: Disregard my last tweet, internet is working again. The kids and wives can come out of hiding now. #Cox

@OhBanks: thanks to twitter I know my #cox outage is widespread and not due to my accidentally watching a beiber youtube video. whew.

@johnthebolmeier Feel like a damn caveman with #Cox down. Do I....do I read a book now?

@rotkev: #cox internet is down!!!! What do i do now, sleep?!?

@BriGuy0419: How the fuck do I play MW3 now? #cox internet down

And of course about half a million of these:

@ryanscottmiller: If you have #cox internet and it's down, change your DNS to Google's Public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

    11/15/2011 NEVER FORGET

  • Pergo Floors' 'Real Life' Testing

    / Comments (0)

Testing laminate flooring in a lab can be pretty boring. The results are absolutely not appealing to customers. That’s why Pergo Floors tested their product in ‘real life’ situations. A testing area was constructed in Venice Beach, California. In this area, the weirdest 'real life' tests they could dream up were performed — allowing people to witness the strength of the product in person.
