The COX Internet Outage of 2011

/ Comments (1)

"Remember, Remember the 15th of November."

The Twitterverse was alive last night with cries of an internet outage in multiple states due to a DNS problem at COX Communications. Here are a few of the funnier tweets from the midst of the disaster:

@KillerTofuTina: #Cox just went down and no Viagra in sight

@anth2012: This is the first sign of the end of times #cox #dns #2012

@BellNickk: Disregard my last tweet, internet is working again. The kids and wives can come out of hiding now. #Cox

@OhBanks: thanks to twitter I know my #cox outage is widespread and not due to my accidentally watching a beiber youtube video. whew.

@johnthebolmeier Feel like a damn caveman with #Cox down. Do I....do I read a book now?

@rotkev: #cox internet is down!!!! What do i do now, sleep?!?

@BriGuy0419: How the fuck do I play MW3 now? #cox internet down

And of course about half a million of these:

@ryanscottmiller: If you have #cox internet and it's down, change your DNS to Google's Public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

11/15/2011 NEVER FORGET

I was having connection issues that morning with cox. I called for tech support and there was an automated message saying there's outages in fairfax. I wasn't sure if my problem was that or something else, so I hung up while I was on hold to wait it out. I am thinking of making an analytics software comparison and maybe I will change it. I don`t want any more problems.
